The Graduate

Dress: Betsy Johnson Heels: Steve Madden Dress: Nordstrom and top Heels: Sam Edelman To say I am proud of my accomplishment will be understating the undeniable joy I am feeling at this moment in time. Not only is this degree for my future, but being the first in the entire Tapia family to earn a degree, I share this triumph with them. We came to the United States with one change of clothes, leaving everything behind. All of us with their families living under one tiny roof, with the dream of a brighter future. I intend on carrying my family’s name, break barriers, and push myself to the unknown limit. Being a first generation Mexican immigrant and the oldest in my family receiving this degree was a MUST. It was something I had to prove to myself, and show my siblings they can achieve more than I could! I did this on my own and that is a thought which is engraved in my mind. All the rough nights of no sleep, studying at Denny’s till …

Greaser in Disguise

Sam Edelman: Over the Knee Boots With spring finally being here! I know it’s crazy! I am slowly and I mean sllooowwlllyy cleaning up my closet to get me ready for spring! With the lighter temperature dam right I still get away with wearing my fav Armani Exchange leather jacket and Sam Edelman over the knee boots.  I don’t know what it is, but something about these two items always makes a regular outfit feel like it is all of a sudden fashion forward with a bit of a bad ass attitude.  I mean how can I not these boots are made for strutting and that’s what I’m going to do!

Bainbridge Island adventure

Zara: Coat Vince Camuto: boots Levis: Jeans  Loft: Sweater Our first day in Seattle we decided to visit the best little island my eyes have seen, Bainbridge.  Even though the amount of layers we wore couldn’t keep us warm, the adventure we had that day is one for the books.  We started our morning by hitting General Porpoise We started our morning by hitting General Porpoise Coffee and lets just say LA coffee shops and donuts have nothing on Seattle.  To this day I can still taste the Chocolate marshmallow donut and latte. Every bite was better than the last, honestly, I got a little sad when I gobbled my donut within a minute.  (I need to learn how to eat slow) See now I am craving one, but I have to stick to this daing healthy lifestyle. On to the day… We went to Ferrie from Seattle to Bainbridge! I felt like a child seeing the world for the very first time.  It was beautiful! The scenery of the entire city is unbelievable, I can see why they call this city Emerald City. …

Shimmering to a New Year

Today is the beginning of a new year for me and my little Charms of Penny.  One of my many goals is to continue writing on my blog, the rest of my goals as my father has taught me I will keep them to myself and work on them rather than discuss them.  2016 brought me and taught me many life lessons I will forever take in my heart. It has taught me to be tougher (hence the boots) stronger, it has motivated me to continue to push for my dreams as a pursue to the life I choose to live, BUT most importantly it brought light to my heart again. 2016 I say goodbye to you and thank you for bringing me and teaching me those needed life lessons. Rather than not discussing the elephant in the room, I will briefly say, I had to let go of that part of my life not with anger nor frustration, but acceptance and gratefulness it was a repeated cycle that passed its course.  I am shedding the expectations I thought I …

Head in the Clouds

ZARA: Maxi Dress It’s been such a long time my friends! Balance is one of the things I want to work on this coming year.  My goal is to keep you updated as much as possible with my wacky adventures.  I have missed being able to share what I have been up to, but with starting my photography business as well as maintaining my 8-5 job, and being a full time student it has kept me extremely busy.  No matter how extreme my schedule gets, I will not let go of my Charms of Penny it is a part of me. The location of the shoot above is a location that is often overlooked in DTLA.  I love how it is in the middle of it all so close to Pasadena, DTLA, and the university I attend.  The view of this nature spot is magnificent.  I can even saw the view is much better than in Griffith Park, I say this because the view of my little treasure city is so close.  From where I took …

Fall for Boots

It is the first day of fall! It is crazy how quickly time flies.  I can not say I was waiting for this season to start because I feel like this summer I was not able to enjoy it as much as I wanted to.  Believe me I will slowly start transitioning to fall appropriate weather.  (Talk to the LA weather guru because it has been extremely hot for the last couple of weeks) A way in which I am transitioning to Fall clothing is by dusting off my good ol’ boots and sporting them with anything from shorts, dresses, or skirts.  Like the lovely number you see above.  I got this from an amazing event in Down Town La called A Current Affair, which only happens twice a year once in April and the next In September 26 (this weekend).  I can not wait to see what is in store this time around.  They have so many things it is Vintage Nirvana.  It’s A Current Affair is selling tickets online hope you LA peeps …

Jump on It

Jumper is Vintage Heels:Steve Madden Stecy Heels  Backpack bought at TJ Maxx similar here: Leather Buckle Zipper Backpack As a Fashion Blogger I never thought it would be so hard to photograph in public locations. This shoot by far was one of the hardest shoots.  Maybe that’s what I get for believing that a crowd of fans from the Pasadena Music Festival would not try to photobomb my photos.  Silly me! This little jumper has become one of my favorite pieces of clothing.  Just as it looks it is very comfortable to wear I can not get enough on how spacious it is, so you know I let it all hang out and ate like there’s no tomorrow.  The only downside was the heels! I love them, but they are so darn uncomfortable.  It is okay though I forgive them, because I will be rocking them over and over again. (Can you say Love Hate Relationship?) I hope you all have a great rest of the week.  Positive vibes from me to all of you.

Love Affair with Lace

The word is out! Or has it been that obvious? My love for lace dresses continues.  Is it trending in fashion right now? I don’t know and frankly I don’t care.  Lately as you saw on the post before I’ve grown obsessed with lace and cute vintage style dresses.  I am growing dangerously close to kinda sounding like a broken record when I say, this type of dresses are so chic to style. It makes me feel so comfortable and lady-like at the same time.  Gents, that is not a bad combination. Currently I am looking for inspiration.  I feel that I’ve grown detached to so many things that represented me.  Now that summer is near and I will have a short break (2 weeks of school) I can focus on bringing to light my adventorous and free side.  I will keep you posted on my goals for the summer. One of them has come true if you are following me on Instagram, and you should be: Ligerlily18,  you saw that my boyfriend and I just experience …

Girly Dress

It’s funny to think how fast time flies and how changes occur so suddenly.  We are now getting close to hitting June, it’s the half way point of this year!  I looked back on the goals I had set for 2015, and so far I haven’t accomplished half of them.  One of the goals I did accomplish was walking for my graduation and receiving my AA degree. This weekend was my graduation from Cerritos College I received my AA degree in Business Administration.  It was the boost I needed to push myself harder in the University I am currently attending; CSULA, I am working on receiving my bachelors degree in Finance with a minor in Economics, If all goes well I will be the class of 2017.  I do dare to dream and I do dare to make these dreams become a reality. So many changes have happened this year from family getting bigger(my cousin is having a baby in June) to me cutting my hair( I know its not as big as a baby, …

Lacey Daisy

I can safely say that I have a very strong obsession with having too many stripes and laces in my wardrobe choices.  This shirt by Banana Republic was no exception, I mean come it was on sale, so i had to buy.  I think it’s the fact that the texture automatically makes an outfit classy and that much more put together.  The heels I am currently obsessed with they are by Kurt Geiger and they were the first items in my closet that I splurged in.  Smartly splurged though, I am all about a bargain deal. Here is the background story: Ladies and gents.  If you love everything fashion then you must get these two apps one is Haute Look and the other Nordstrom Rack.  Let me tell you every day they have new sales( 30, %, 50%,60% off sales…oh yeah) going on from designers all over the world. Marc Jacobs, Kate Spade, Chloe, etc.  Go check it out! that is where I got my glorious heels.  Lets just say I am in …
